This side shows which adventures the TickLab-Gang has experienced. From team activities to institute activities we do fun stuff, also besides the lab work and our lunch walks :)

Institute's BBQ

19.08.2026

The institute barbecue was a great evening filled with good food, refreshing drinks, and lots of fun! We enjoyed chatting with colleagues, sharing a few laughs, and making the most of the relaxed atmosphere. With plenty of delicious food and good company, it was a lovely event for everyone to enjoy.

Carola published an amazing review about ticks and how they recognize stimuli with the Hallers’ organ with the current knowledge we have about them and the latest hypotheses! Have a read! https://doi.org/10.1016/j.pt.2026.03.017

Pottery Painting

20.03.2026

We took a little break from the lab and got creative at a pottery-painting session! It was a fun afternoon of colourful ideas, questionable artistic decisions, and plenty of laughs. Everyone got to put their own spin on their piece, making it a relaxed and memorable way to spend time together outside the lab.

Transmitter Article

03.03.2026

Calli McMurray a reporter from “The Transmitter” had an interview with our group leader Carola Städele and published this article https://doi.org/10.53053/GLYZ6758 about the fascinating model organism tick. It is wonderful illustrated with a picture designed by Kai Gietzen. Have a read or listen to the story!

Christmas Event 2025

05.12.2025

As a Christmas get together we booked a guided tour through Göttingen and learned about the formation of our university and traditions that used to happen for students. For example, did you know that the city of Göttingen has a law that forbids kissing the Gänseliesel?? We did neither! If you wanna learn more fun facts like this we can highly recommend this tour.

A little walk over the beautiful christmas market later we then met the Shaib group from our institute for dinner at restaurant. As a small christmas present round we did a white elephant with a lot of laughs about the different gifts.

This was a really nice evening together!
